Begin your trip in Valjevo and discover western Serbian history, culture and cuisine, plus incredible landscapes. Spend your first day on a scenery-packed hiking tour over Medvednik Mountain, with an overnight stay on Bobija Mountain, near the town of Ljubovija.
The following day, set off for famous Trešnjica Gorge: go hiking amid the steep cliffs and have lunch with a welcoming local family, followed by dinner and a one-night stay on Tara Mountain.
Explore the Tara region on day three, pausing for lunch in a remote village; that night you’ll bed down, Serbian-style, in a mountain chalet. Wake up bright and early to hike all the way to the peak of Tara Mountain, cutting through the rare forest of Pančić`s Spruce, which is over tens of millions of years old and considered to be the most beautiful spruce in Europe. Enjoy a memorable lunch in Drvengrad ethno village and bed down in friendly accommodation on Mount Zlatar.
Continue the hiking thrills the next day on a walking tour through the Uvac River Canyon, admiring shimmering Uvac Lake. On day six, head off on a hiking tour to Jadovnik Mountain, visiting Mileševa Monastery. That night, rest and relax with dinner and an overnight stay in the pretty Prijepolje area.
Lace up your hiking boots again the next morning and head on a hiking tour to cloud-poking Skrka in Montenegro, with dinner and an overnight stay on Mount Durmitor. You’ll tick off twin peaks on day eight: Bobotov Kuk peak (2,523m) and Sedlo peak, followed by a well-deserved dinner and stay in Kolasin.
Your destination for day nine is Zekova Glava, where you’ll hike to Zekova Glava peak and on to sparkling Lake Biograd. Kick back and relax in one of the local lakeside chalets, your setting for dinner and sleep. On day 10, explore dramatic Prokletije National Park, a rugged tapestry of mountains, cliffs and green valleys, home to bears, wolves, lynx, wild boar and more.
On day 11, discover Montenegro’s traditional katuns (mountain huts) and experience the local lifestyle at Lubnice village. Finally, for your last full day, explore Lovcen National Park and Njeguši village, where tasty, traditional hams and cheeses are produced. Nearby, there are plenty of characterful restaurants, some of them boasting the most beautiful Boka Bay views. Spend the night in Podgorica.
